Starting Over
It's always on our minds. Should I start a blog and write about what I enjoy and love so much? Do I have enough time to? If they can do it so can I but do I have the motivation?
The answer is yes. Do it and you got nothing to loose. If it's anything I've learned as a gamer all it takes is a spark to get up on your feet and get it done. Thanks to Avery Lir who runs his own blog over at PocketChomp.com I'm gonna give it a go and try to blog regularly. I'll start up my own site eventually if I can hash out some details later fun stuff. I already got the twitter and Kotaku account z777ik, I'm also on IGN.com as well as others like Gamasutracom.
I have plenty of article ideas and such so I'll be fleshing those out in the mean time. Yes some are opinionated rants but who cares as long as they are not the mindless rants you see else where. My topics will include such things as upcoming games and new releases. Hot button issues in gaming like multiplayer douche baggery and proper gamer etiquette. Plus some guides if I can muster it on interesting games and the like.
I may spawn a series telling short tales of my life growing up as a gamer. From getting the first Gameboy up to experiencing college. The times I used gaming as my main forms of venting, relaxing and all over outlet as I grow to be a respectable geek in this day and age. Basically how I dealt with things as I grew up and a true story of a child being raised by video games as his parents despised the medium.
Avery Lir I owe you, thanks for giving me motivation to start a blog here and possibly transition it to mainstream via my own site like you have done. I've played with a site in college but let it go and it didn't take but I think I may try to start one up again, after I get into a good rhythm here of course.
A few dreams I have about getting into the gaming industry as a professional are:
1. Working as a programmer for a major studio on AAA titles.
2. Being a reviewer of games and posting/blogging about upcoming releases much like IGN.com, Kotaku.com and even the guys over at Microsoft. (I listen to "Major Nelson Radio", "Podcast Beyond" and "Game Scoop")
3. Work at Microsoft with the Major Nelson crew doing awesome stuff in gaming and helping propel the industry in the future. I would love to be a programmer working on new hardware some day or anything in general regarding the Xbox.
Well I hope someone takes to reading this I'm gonna do my best to blog about what I enjoy so very much. I hope it takes me somewhere in the future. Wish my luck.
